To identify, incubate and invest in long road private sector solutions for Sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest social and economic problem - eradicating poverty; we purposively use low-volume, high-cost tourism as a revenue tool to pay for the initiatives.

Our Vision

To revive deteriorating and abandoned UNESCO World Heritage Sites into modern, world-class destinations, where money spent in and around the site (think hotel, restaurant, coffee lounge, retail shops) stays in the host country.

Our Time

We swarm locals with everything they need to think big. Then we open our Rolodex to do it. Locals opine the plans and pick the partners that matter most. Ideas of what, where and how to spend time are not definitive, but they are beautifully opinionated.

Preservation Africa Fund is the only private organization in the U.S. and Africa unapologetically and exclusively committed to reviving the Continent’s pre-colonial magestry.

Our model takes stressed and threatened Cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites, surrounds them with compassionate protection and intelligent, sustainable management, and funds them with sensitive, low-volume, low-impact, high-end tourism in order to revive them to their rightful in the origins of modern-day math, science, construction, and engineering.

We team up with governments, NGOs and even rivals to capture transformative economic benefits through high-level collective impact because we believe in the power of holding hands.  (The founder is a Robert Fulghum junkie).

Our profits swarm locals with what they need to manage and operate the sites as well as competitive SME clusters around them (think art
gallery, boutique hotel, coffee lounge).  Everything about our work is
designed so that by 2030 local businesses in or around Cultural UNESCO
sites thrive out of poverty with paradigm links, not to each other,
but to those with significant purchasing power.

Preservation Africa Fund is unashamedly focused at building something more than great pictures. We immerse UNESCO destinations in local culture and place heritage in the context of the world we live in because we believe the experience will amplify the soul. Our DNA bends towards the passions of the well-traveled with a laser-focus on 100% economic retention

Preservation Africa Fund is the only private non-profit organization established in direct response to alarm horns sounded by archaeologist and anthropologist of the loss of and threats to major cultural heritage sites in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our focus is to protect pre-colonial infrastructure because it is the last remaining physical evidence of everyday African’s mastery of physics, construction, engineering, math and science.
